Benefits for a Dynamic Sites
Robots balk at dynamic pages. A dynamic page is any page with a question mark in the URL and these will either be ignored or indexed reluctantly. This is because the spiders can get stuck in loops on a dynamic site. They just go round and round a site and are effectively trapped.
Exceptions - indexing dynamic content
Some spiders make one major exception.
If there is a link from a static page to a dynamic page, they will try to follow the links (only one deep). Once they reach the dynamic page, they won't follow links from it!
So creating a link to dynamic content from a static sitemap can help get dynamic content indexed!
Make sure you are listed.
It is especially important to consider using a sitemap if your site is dynamically generated.
So if you run a website using .asp, .jsp, coldfusion i.e. a web site powered by a database
be sure to take our advice and create a static .html site map and get some of your content indexed.
